Short answer: Omnia Fishing is shutting down. Its store stopped taking orders on Oct 19, 2026, and according to Omnia's customer email the app and website go dark on Saturday, Oct 31, 2026. If you used Omnia to plan lake trips, you can keep doing that with another trip-planning app, and if you used it to buy tackle, Omnia itself points customers to its fulfillment partner, Thorne Brothers.
For eight years, Omnia built something a lot of lake anglers relied on: pick your water, see reports and baits that worked there, and shop for it. In its goodbye, the company thanked anglers for "eight years of your suggestions, reports, loyalty and fish stories" (Angling International). That's worth respecting. This page is for Omnia users figuring out what's next.
Is Omnia Fishing really shutting down?
Yes, by the company's own announcement as reported. Angling International reported on Oct 19, 2026 that Omnia's app and website will go dark at the end of the month, that its store closed and stopped taking orders that day, and that orders already in the system will still ship through its fulfillment partner (Angling International). The company said, "the costs associated with managing this powerful system prevented us from keeping it going" (same source).
The customer email, as read aloud by host Andrew Hayes on the podcast episode Ep. 372 - R.I.P. Omnia Fishing, gives the exact date: "The app and website will go dark on Saturday, October 31st, 2026. After that date, you will not be able to log in or reach your account" (podcast transcript).
As of Oct 21, 2026, we didn't find a closure notice on omniafishing.com itself. The homepage still describes PRO and a free 7-day trial. So the dates above come from Omnia's email as reported, not from an official page.
What do Omnia users lose?
Based on Omnia's own pages:
- The lake-first tackle store. Omnia describes itself as "shop-by-lake": select your lakes and it filters products to match (Omnia homepage). The store stopped taking orders Oct 19 (Angling International).
- Map layers and sourced data. Omnia's PRO FAQ lists water temperature, tides, water levels, and DNR survey data, plus community content: fishing reports, technique rankings, and pattern data (Omnia PRO FAQ). Free users had fishing reports, "hotbaits," and other map points of interest (same source).
- Depth maps were already gone. Since Aug 19, 2026, Omnia's FAQ says the Navionics and C-MAP layers were removed, and depth contours, vegetation, and bottom composition are no longer available (same source).
- Your account. Per the reported email, you won't be able to log in after Oct 31 (podcast transcript).
What should I do before October 31?
Omnia hasn't published export instructions that we could find, so we won't guess at any. Here's only what Omnia itself documents:
- Check your auto-renewal. Omnia says all PRO auto-renewals have been turned off. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are cancelled in your device settings (Omnia PRO FAQ).
- Gift cards. The FAQ says gift card balances stay valid at face value and links a form for a refund if you'd rather not use the card (same source). Note that FAQ was written in August, before the store stopped taking orders, so redeeming may no longer be possible. If you hold a balance, contact Omnia using the address the FAQ lists, before the site goes dark.
- Refunds for PRO. As of the FAQ, Omnia says it can't issue refunds and "will provide additional details of limited refund options at a later date" (same source). Watch your email for that.
- Open orders. Orders already in the system will still ship through the fulfillment partner (Angling International).
If you have favorite lakes, reports, or notes in the app, it's reasonable to write down or screenshot what matters to you before Oct 31. Omnia doesn't document an export tool. If you want to try backing up waypoints as a GPX file, see our waypoint export guide.
Where can I buy tackle now that Omnia's store is closed?
Omnia's own answer: "If you shopped through Omnia because of the selection, customers can buy direct from Thorne Brothers," which it says is a separate business and still open (Angling International).
To be upfront: MyFishNavigator doesn't sell tackle. If the store was the main reason you used Omnia, we're not a replacement for that part. Our briefings suggest lures for your spot, and you buy them wherever you like.
What's a good Omnia Fishing alternative for planning lake trips?
It depends on which part of Omnia you used.
If you used Omnia to figure out where and what to fish on a lake, that's what MyFishNavigator does. Set a location on any water body and you get an expert briefing for that spot with weather, species viability, lure picks, regulations, local reports, and tides (myfishnavigator.com):
- A per-spot expert briefing, rebuilt for your pin and date rather than a static lake page.
- Water temperature from a nearby gauge when one is in range.
- Recent local fishing reports gathered for the area when you search.
- Free to start: 10 trip briefings a month, no credit card required (Plans).
- Pro: depth contours on the trip map, where state depth data is available.
- Follow-up chat to refine your plan is on Plus and Pro only (Plans).
Where MyFishNavigator doesn't fit:
- No tackle store (see above).
- Not a chart app or catch log. We say so on our own homepage: chart apps map the water and catch-log apps track your history, and MyFishNavigator turns live conditions and reports into a plan for today (myfishnavigator.com).
- No Omnia data carries over. There's no import from Omnia.
- No community "hotbaits" or technique rankings like Omnia's.
Other options, depending on what you need: our homepage comparison covers Fishbrain, Navionics Boating, and onX Fish, based on public product information as of September 2026 (myfishnavigator.com; see also /compare). Chart apps like Navionics are built for depth mapping, and onX Fish notes coverage in select Midwest states plus Montana (same source). Check each app's current features yourself, as they change.
How do I plan a trip to a lake I've never fished?
Start with the basics: water temperature, recent reports, and where depth changes. Our guide to fishing a new lake walks through it. This time of year, also read up on fall turnover, which can scatter fish for days to a couple of weeks.
